DESIGN FOR THE THIRD PRINT, NOT THE FIRST

Nobody gets a functional part on the first print. What separates a fast project from a slow one is whether the model was built to be revised. Sketch relations that survive a dimension change, features ordered so a wall-thickness edit does not blow up the tree, and mating references that point at geometry you will not delete. I plan three physical iterations into every quote. The clients who are surprised by that are the ones who have been burned by a shop that promised one.

WHY I RENDER BEFORE I PRINT

A Visualize render costs an evening. A machining run costs real money and a week. Photo-real rendering is not decoration — it is the cheapest proportion check available. Put the part in a studio HDRI at the size it will actually be, and mistakes that are invisible in a shaded CAD viewport become obvious: a radius that reads as cheap, a parting line in the wrong place, a face that catches light badly. Fix it in the model while fixing it is free.

THE SEAM IS A DESIGN DECISION

On a full-scale printed helmet the joints decide whether it reads as a prop or as a product. Splitting a model for the build plate is not a slicer problem, it is a CAD problem — put the seams where the geometry already has a hard edge, add registration features so the halves cannot go together wrong, and leave the bond line somewhere a finisher can reach. Do that and the client sands for an hour instead of a weekend.
